TMWC US Open preview: Women’s 55 kg

55 kg is perhaps one of the strongest weight classes for TMWC. With four wrestlers competing under the TMWC crest, All 4 have made past World teams, with Becka Leathers claiming a World Bronze medal. Take a look at Titan Mercury’s roster for Women’s Freestyle 55 kgs.

Alex Hedrick: As one of the youngest stars of USA wrestling, Hedrick was the breakthrough champion at last year’s U.S. Open. Alex capitalized off of her title by claiming a spot at the Final X, where she faced off against 3X World and Olympic Champion, Helen Maroulis. Though Hedrick is one of the young and up and coming wrestlers, she has continued to prove herself as one of the top wrestlers. This past weekend Alex claimed Gold at the 2019 Pan Am Championships.

Becka Leathers: Becka Leathers looks to claim the U.S. Open title after sitting out last year as a World Bronze medalist in 2017. Now rooted at the Univiversity of North Carolina, Leathers is hungry and focused to come out on top.

Jacarra Winchester: Winchester is reigning World team member, after defeating fellow TMWC wrestler, Becka Leathers in Final X. After a breakthrough season in 2018, where Winchester was seconds short of medaling, she is looking to claim her spot in Final X again, make the World team and come home with a World medal. Jacarra also competed at the Pan Am Championships this past weekend, where she earned a bronze medal wrestling up a weight class.

Shawna Isbell-Kemp: The former World team member is coming back to wrestling competition after taking a hiatus back in 2014. Isbell Kemp is also the head wrestling coach at Jamestown University
